|Roy 'Mad Dog' Earle (1891-1929)|
Born in Racine, Wisconsin, Earle ran away from home at age 14. He ended up in Chicago, where he began a modest career as a car thief. After stealing a car belonging to one of the local mobsters, he was taken in to be roughed up by one of Al Capone’s thugs. Capone’s men liked Earle, and decided it was shame to waste such good talent. He went to work as a car thief full time, eventually becoming Capone’s best wheel man. Earle was killed by Frank Nitti during an argument over a card game.
