|Martin Stett (1860 - 1922)|
Stett served in the U.S. Navy for 20 years. After leaving the Navy, he worked in private shipping lines in one fashion or another. He continued on as a sailor even after the General Slocum fire, eventually becoming the Captain of the DELTA QUEEN paddle boat. He died while on a train trip when the engine derailed, causing the entire train to plummet off a bridge in the mountains of West Virginia.
